Ilizwi Industrial Holdings (Pty) Ltd (Ilizwi) was established in July 1997 as an investment holding company. It operates out of offices situated in Rivonia, Sandton. It currently has a full-time staff complement of six individuals of which three are qualified engineers with postgraduate degrees in engineering and business management. The Ilizwi Board of Directors comprises of five members who are all black with one also being female. The company is 100% black-owned. 

Through the years, Ilizwi has evolved to also offer services such as management consulting, engineering consulting and project management services in strategic projects in which it and some of its subsidiaries participates. To continuously enhance the skills base internally, Ilizwi normally sponsors its employees to attend various training courses. It also constantly looks for specialised technical professionals with experience in the various engineering disciplines. Ilizwi has had relatively good financial returns with some good growth and is set to grow even further in the short to medium term to reach the planned R1bn turnover target by February 2014.

llizwi constantly seeks to do strategic acquisitions and build alliances that will provide access to resources, technology and skills that are complementary to its current subsidiaries' operations.

Given its principals' individual backgrounds in electronics, electrical engineering and telecommunications, llizwi places emphasis on investments in companies within the Engineering, Energy, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Mining and allied fields. Its business focus centres around identifying opportunities, evaluating them, making the investments and post investment value adding by providing required skills, management services and/or strategic direction.

llizwi fully ascribes to the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) principles and is in the process of attaining BBBEE accreditation.
